Skiing Vail

Peaks

Vail Peaks

There are three major peaks, each which include between 1300-1500 acres of fresh snow. Located in proximity to East Vail, is Golden Peak, known for challenging slopes and more challenges for those interested in different options of skiing. The main peak is Lions head, which can provide a wide range of slope opportunities for every ski level. China Bowl is located close to West Vail, and is a smaller slope for those wanting to move to the side of the main mountain peak for the best ski experience.

Well Known Mountain Runs

Vail - Blue Sky Basin

Blue Sky Basin: This is the most advanced set of slopes available to advanced level skiers. The main run includes a ten mile range area, which is connected to back bowls and the mount of the holy cross.

North star / Gandy Dancer: This includes two black diamond runs for those interested in a different level. It is known as one of the favorite sets of slopes, specifically because it is groomed every day with fresh powder.

Riva Ridge: This run goes to the top of Vail mountain, which starts at an elevation of 11,250 feet. With over four miles of slope, you will be able to enjoy a steep run of 4 miles that ends at an elevation of 8,150 feet.

Timberline Face: This slope is located by East Vail and is known because of its introduction to the back range. This area also leads to several back bowls.

Terrain Parks

Vail - Terrain Parks

There are three main terrain parks available for people to practice new tricks at the ski resort. Golden Peak holds one terrain park for extra jump challenges, wall rides and a "superpipe". This is combined with a variety of heights used for practicing new tricks before hitting the slopes. This area is known for helping advanced level experts gather more practice.

Bwana and Pride terrain parks are the other two options available. This area includes two basic parks that are used for those that are beginning to move into skiing and snowboarding. In this area, beginning and intermediate level students can practice new tricks and basic moves, from jumping to top rail features.
